Katy Peck (previously Cirne)
Technical and Production Manager

From a young age I have been obsessed with sound. Producing it, controlling it, capturing it and manipulating it. That passion lead me into the performing arts, starting in live sound when I was a teenager. I then went on to study Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology, continuing on to achieve my BA Hons in Technical Theatre, using my final years to specialise in sound whilst working casual/freelance and volunteering within multiple venues around my university as well as part time performing arts technician in a nearby secondary school.

When I graduated I started as a Junior Technician in a well established regional theatre The Mercury Theatre, working on touring shows, one nighters, hires such as conferences and awards shows, as well as in house productions. I worked up through the theatre into becoming their Senior Sound Technician (aka head of the sound department), whilst Senior Sound I helped lead the venue through a capitol project, decanting out of the venue, cataloging and storing legacy equipment, helping build a temporary 800 seater venue, leading the team during that outside season and then installing new equipment and legacy equipment and making all the new paper work and catalogs for the technical department.

This role led me to becoming the Technical and Production Manager at Colchester Arts Centre, where I talk to every single show coming into the venue, sometimes 10 shows a week, and ensure we can deliver the highest quality technical support. I work with hirers to translate their creative goals into technical briefs and production manage various inside and outside teams to ensure the event is completed to the highest quality, I schedule casual and freelance staff and manage equipment and maintenance as well as many other responsibilities. I Production Manage or Project Manage various outside events at various outside venues in and around Essex, ranging from comedy nights, live music, film nights, street parties etc.

In 2023 I was nominated and won the Women In Live Music Production Manager of the Year award which I am exceptionally proud of. I have championed mentoring and getting more woman into backstage roles, even organising and teaching a 3 day workshop for Woman and diverse genders in backstage roles with a deeper look at lighting and sound.

I have been described as meticulous, hard working and passionate. I love working on a range of diverse shows and enjoy working on multiple projects at once.

I post some of my projects and shows on Instagram @kp_soundtech
